Research by Smart Home Week has revealed that smart home technology is used every day by 57 per cent of us, with indoor app-controlled cameras and smart alarms making up the bulk of the anti-burglary defences.

When choosing an apartment, it’s advisable to have a 24-hour concierge service, video entry phones and CCTV in public areas. ‘Security is a key factor for purchasers when weighing up the pros and cons of living at a specific development,’ says Brian De’ath, sales director at Southbank Place (pictured above).
