Let the sun shine!

North Prairie Developments joins the 2019 Parade of Homes with an innovative solar-ready, tech-savvy show home located at 242 Stilling Union, in The Meadows.

The home is one of three North Prairie show homes in this year’s Parade of Homes, presented until September 15 by the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders Association (SRHBA). North Prairie parade homes are also located at 802 Kensington Boulevard in Kensington and 101 – 315 Dickson Crescent in Stonebridge, giving the public a chance to see the longtime builder’s variety of housing options.

Angela Williams, assistant manager with North Prairie Developments, says The Onyx parade home at 242 Stilling Union is one of their brand new floor plans for 2019. The 1,418 square foot home features three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a triple car garage. The home is priced at $448,900.

The Onyx is part of the Smart Home Series developed by North Prairie for their single-family builds in The Meadows. Each of these homes features a Smart Home technology package including an Amazon Echo virtual assistance system, a Nest smart thermostat and numerous USB charging plugs. The voice-activated Amazon Echo performs many tasks on command, from playing music to controlling compatible smart appliances in the home. The Nest smart thermostat automatically sets room temperatures based on the owners’ schedule and comfort preferences.

North Prairie has also looked forward to the future by making this parade home solar-ready. The roof space has been designed to accommodate solar panels and the electrical conduit has been installed from the roof through to the basement where the home’s electrical panel is located. “If the future owners want to put solar panels in, it’s all ready to go,” says Williams.

The home’s interior features a modern open concept design, enhanced by large dual low-E windows and nine-foot ceilings. Elegant curved archways provide definition and architectural interest as you transition from the foyer to the kitchen and the bedrooms.

A focal point in the stylish kitchen is the colourful and artistic tile backsplash, complementing the two-tone Shaker-style cabinets and corner pantry. The quartz-topped island features an extended counter, ideal for casual dining. Black matte cabinetry hardware and modern geometric pendant lights are trendy touches.

The kitchen overlooks the generously sized dining area and living room. Rustic style wide plank laminate flooring extends throughout the main floor, uniting the space.

Two whimsically decorated children’s bedrooms are located on the main floor, on either side of the full bathroom. Kids will fall in love with the dinosaur and cuddly bunny themes.

The home’s posh master suite is located on its own floor, in the bonus space above the triple garage. The owner’s suite is over 400 square feet in size, a private and inviting space designed for relaxation. The ensuite bath features a quartz-topped vanity and a large glass-enclosed shower. Window placement transforms the walk-in closet into a bright and sunny space.

The Parade of Homes turns the spotlight on 32 innovative show homes located across Saskatoon, Warman, Martensville and Blackstrap. Each parade home is designed and constructed by a Certified Professional Home Builder; all are members of the SRHBA.

Being part of the Parade of Homes is important to North Prairie, says Williams. “It’s an opportunity to showcase our new floor plans and different product offerings. As a longtime member of the SRHBA and one of Saskatchewan’s most experienced builders, it’s important to us to support the parade and help educate the public about the quality that Certified Professional Home Builders bring to the housing market.”

The North Prairie parade home at 242 Stilling Union is open for viewing Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 1:00 to 5 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays from 7:00 to 9 p.m.
